Wagner Mello, PhD, MS, L.Ac.

Wagner Mello followed his grandmas footsteps in pursuing nursing at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. His dedication to service led him to live with the Bororo, an indigenous group of people in Brazil, upon graduation. There, he learned to integrate his Western medicine background with the local way of life. This collaboration of two perspectives helped him realize the importance of comprehensive care and communication between the practitioner and patient.

When his mother was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in 2009, he was motivated to pursue acupuncture since it was what provided her with the most comfort. Through his experiences practicing preventative care at New York Heart and Vascular Specialists, Brooklyn Hospital, and acupuncture, he emphasizes the importance of integrative care. He firmly believes that a partnership between Western and Eastern practices provide the best patient care through comprehensive treatment.

Today, he has advanced his nursing background and became a nurse practitioner NP to join among the 350,000 NPs around the country to address shortages in primary care. He is dedicated to combining his nursing and Classical Chinese Medicine backgrounds to improve his community's health and wellbeing.
