Varsha Vaidya, MD

Dr Vaidya has received her training in London England before coming to the USA in 1993 She completed her training in the USA at Georgetown University in Washington DC She joined Johns Hopkins University as a Faculty member in the department of Psychiatry and Internal Medicine She worked as an Assistant Prof of psychiatry Internal Medicine from 1996-2009 She has been Board Certified in psychiatry has worked as the Director of Consult Psychiatry at JH Bayview Medical center since 1997 She was the consultant to the Center for addiction and pregnancy from 1996-2008 and founded the Obesity Psychiatry program at Johns Hopkins University in 1998 She is currently in private practice this includes treatment of Mood, anxiety disorders Psychosis and eating disorders in Adults adolescents and the elderly She is a certified provider of Suboxone treatment for opiate dependence She does pre bariatric psychiatric evals directs the cognitive behavior therapy groups which address emotional eating weight regain after bariatric surgery In addition to several journal articles on bariatric psychiatry Varsha published a book titled Health and Treatment Strategies in Obesity She is an internationally recognized expert on obesity and bariatric psychiatry and has been an invited speaker at numerous conferences She believes in a holistic approach ie. using different modalities diet exercise acupressure psychopharmacology as well therapy to help heal the body mind.
