Torang Sepah , MD

I am a physician-psychiatrist who is sees a wide demographic, including older adolescents all the way up to geriatric patients. I sub-specialize in Reproductive Psychiatry which addresses peripartum and other hormone mitigated conditions. I majored in Poli Sci at UCLA, received my MD from Tulane School of Medicine, and completed my internship in Family Medicine at Kaiser-Los Angeles Med Center, followed by my General Psychiatry Residency at LA County Medical Center- USC Keck, where I served as Chief Resident. I spent the first five years post residency in correctional medicine, serving a diverse patient population including a high percentage of patients with co-occurring disorders. I continue to work with the forensic population through a Misdemeanor Incompetent To Stand Trial program, working toward lowering the criminal burden on the mentally ill while achieving optimal treatment goals for improved functional status. Most recently, I was Chief Psychiatrist at the California Department of Corrections at the California Institution for Women. I continue to teach medical students and residents at Keck USC SOM in the Dept of Psychiatrist as Adjunct faculty. My interest in improving the healthcare delivery systems from a macro level is achieved through a part-time position as Medical Director over Psychiatry at Imperial Health Holdings, an IPA and Health Plan. I also dedicate one day a week to HIV patients at a clinic which houses their primary care physicians, thereby reducing the barriers to care. In a nutshell--I see people, not problems. I learn more from my patients than vice versa. I am dedicated to my patients who come first, always. As their physician, I am their strongest advocate. I consider being a physician a privilege earned, not a job I show up to. I am grateful everyday for this privilege.
