Syed W. Rizvi, MD

Dr. Syed Rizvi is board certified in psychiatry from American board of psychiatry and neurology. He is also board certified in Addiction Medicine from American board of preventative medicine and from American board of addiction medicine. Dr. Rizvi finished his residency training in psychiatry from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk Virginia. He served as medical director at Gannon Center for Community Mental Health in Dubuque Iowa. Dr. Rizvi also served as a chief of psychiatry at upper Chesapeake Medical Center while working for Shepherd Pratt Health System in Baltimore Maryland. Dr. Rizvi served as an associate professor at West Virginia school of Osteopathy while working at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick Maryland.

Dr. Rizvi currently serves as a staff psychiatrist at Shepherd Pratt Health System. He is also a staff psychiatrist at Prince William County Community Services Board. He continues to do private practice in Northern Virginia.

Dr. Rizvi has vast experience in treating psychiatric patients for a variety of psychiatric conditions and in different treatment settings including inpatient psychiatry, outpatient psychiatry and intensive outpatient program. Dr. Rizvi has also been involved in ECT treatment.

Dr. Rizvi has passion for evidence-based psychiatric care. Dr. Rizvi utilizes objective measures, neuro-psychological testing and tools like genetic testing for medication responses routinely in his clinical evaluations and medication management. Dr. Rizvi take great pride in his compassion and care for his patients and his principal of putting patient's interest and well-being first.
