Stephen Tam, MD

Born and raised in Portland, Oregon to Chinese immigrant parents. His father was a professor in mathematics at Portland State University and his mother worked in insurance for Blue Cross. He is the oldest of 3 children. His brother lives in Chicago with his wife and 3 little kids and works as an anesthesiologist. His sister still lives in Portland with her husband.
He graduated from University of Washington with a BS in statistics. Then a MS in applied physiology and finally his MD from Finch universityThe Chicago Medical School. He spent 2 years working as a research fellow in breast cancer the Seattle
Cancer Care Alliance after medical school. Then completed his medical training with an internship at st Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI and residency at the University Nevada School of Medciine at Univeristy Medical Center in Las Vegas, NV. For the past 16 years, he has worked as internal medicine hospitalist at several local hospitals caring for inpatients. He also provided medical care and consultant care for patients at several local psychiatric centers, Long term acute careLTAC centers and skilled nursing facilitiesSNF. More recently he has been managing outpatients in a clinic setting.
His family consists of his wife and two children ages 12 and 5. Being from the Pacific Northwest he is into outdoor activities especially skiing and snowboarding. In fact the past couple of years he has enjoyed teaching his children skiing and snowboarding. He enjoys boating and jet skiing, and traveling with his family.
