Rachel is a board certified Adult Nurse Practitioner with over 12 years of experience. She received both a bachelors degree in nursing and a Masters degree in nursing from the Accelerated Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, in which she received honors. The University of Massachusetts Medical School has repeatedly been ranked in the top 5, in Primary care. She worked as a registered nurse during graduate school, and after graduating, she worked on several medicalsurgical trauma, orthopedic, cardiology and neurology floors at numerous hospitals.
Once board certified, Rachel specialized in neurology. She practiced in North Carolina, treating all types of neurological conditions such as several types of dementias Alzheimer's, frontotemporal, Parkinsons, Vascular, etc, obstructive sleep apnea, developmental disorders, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, migraines, strokes, Parkinsons, neuropathies, ADHD, and muscle and nerve disorders. During this time, she gained invaluable experience diagnosing, prescribing, interpreting diagnostic tests EEG, MRIs, and laboratory studies and treating patients with chronic and episodic neurological conditions.
Several years later, Rachel moved to Scottsdale, AZ and joined Dr De Ocampo at Arizona Neurology and Sleep Center. She has been practicing alongside him and treating all general neurological conditions, as well as sleep medicine. Primary focuses are on complex headache syndromes migraines, cluster headaches, neuralgias, sleep medicine OSA, CSA, narcolepsy, ADHD, neuromuscular conditions neuropathies and myopathies and implantable device management. Implantable devices include management of DBS for Parkinsons disease and essential tremors, INSPIRE therapy for obstructive sleep apnea, and VNS for epilepsy. Furthermore, she is also highly trained in injectable procedures including BotoxXeomin for chronic migraine, hemifacial spasms, and blepharospasms, trigger point injections, occipital nerve blocks, SPG blocks, epidermal skin biopsies to identify small fiber neuropathies, Alpha-synuclein biopsy testing to identify the development of Parkinsons disease, dementia with Lewy Bodies, pure autonomic failure and multiple system atrophy.
