Nicole L. Flanagan, MSN, PMHNP

I have been practicing in the mental health field for over 18 years in a variety of roles and settings. I first obtained my BA in Psychology and began working at The Providence Center TPC as a group home casemanager. After several years, while obtaining my graduate certification in Forensic Services, I moved to their mobile treatment team and worked as a casemanager while completing nursing school. Following this, I moved to an administrative position managing a group home until I obtained my nursing degree. I then transitioned to their continuing treatment team working as a psychiatric nurse for the next 7 years under the supervision of James K. Sullivan, MD. and then moved to Butler Hospital as an Assistant Nurse Manager on a General Treatment unit. I worked in this role until I was promoted to manager of the same unit while attending the University of Virginia for my MSN in Nursing NP. After completion of this degree, I began private practice, obtained a position in the community in a new multidisciplinary program as their full time prescriber and taught nursing students on weekends in their clinical rotation at Butler Hospital. At that time I joined the New England APNA Chapter board and assisted in planning their annual spring conference. I recently attended classes in Herbalism, obtaining my level one herbal certification so I can better support the holistic needs of my patients and have a better focus on wellness ensuring their emotional and physical needs are supported. Following my working in the community as a Nurse Practitioner, I have since returned to Butler Hospital working in the Admissions department while dividing my time there and with my private practice.
