Dr. Margarita Zarraga was selected as the 2021 Family Physician of the Year by the Massachusetts Academy of Family Physicians.



She is the Founder and Medical Director at Genera Personal Primary Care, one of the pioneer direct primary care practices committed to delivering high quality relationship - based care to communities in Massachusetts.



Dr. Margarita specializes in family medicine, substance abuse treatment, care of vulnerable populations, geriatrics and global health.



She graduated with a degree in Medicine from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine. She took her residency in Family Medicine at The Brooklyn Hospital Center in New York city.



Committed to care more than ever, she began her journey into private practice exploring new care models until she opened Genera Health Direct with spouse David Zarraga, and co-founders Monette Espinosa- Zialcita and Francis Miranda.



Together, this group shares Dr. Margaritas love and fulfillment for every emergency room admission prevented, for every early diabetes diagnosed, and for every soul soothed out of addiction and depression. Dr. Margarita is leading a team committed to the kind of care that she always practiced, but this time she intends to scale and spread the good news: the new standard of healthcare is Personal Primary Care starting with Genera.
