Everton Prospere, M.D., M.P.H.

I am a good doctor with a passion for teaching and caring for people.
Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Downstate Health Sciences University for more than 21 years. Dr. Prospere is currently the Director of the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program and a Co-Director of the Brooklyn Initiative to Develop Geriatric Education. The latter position was earned as part of a multi-million dollar award from the Health Resources Services Administrations Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program. Dr. Prospere has also served as Chief of the Division of Geriatric Medicine, Director of the Medical Consultation Service, Medical Director of the Internal Medicine Physician Assistant Service and as a member of the Institutional Review Board.
Dr. Prospere undertook his undergraduate education at the City University of New York Medical School, Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, from where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He received his medical doctorate from New York University School of Medicine in 1999 and supplemented this with a Masters Degree in Public Health from SUNY Downstate Medical Center School of Public Health in 2008. His internship and residency in Internal Medicine and his Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine were completed at Winthrop University Hospital. Dr. Prospere is triple board certified in Internal Medicine, Geriatric Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Care.
His career is dedicated to leadership, teaching and clinical care in the field of Geriatric Medicine. In 2019, he was honored with the Dr. Samuel L Kountz Jr. Excellence in Mentoring Award. Dr. Prospere also has a thriving clinical practice in which he provides care to residents of the Downstate community and he participates in community level health initiatives. He considers it a privilege to be impacting lives by treating and caring for patients and their families, educating and mentoring students and junior faculty and teaching and equipping community residents to participate in optimizing their health and wellbeing.
