Dr. Varela brings 20 years of expertise in general, minimally invasive, and robotic surgery. He has served as a faculty member at several academic institutions, most recently as a Professor of Surgery at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. Dr. Varela has received numerous accolades from national surgical societies, including the prestigious Golden Scope Award from the American Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons. His research has been federally funded by the NIDDK. Dr. Is doable Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and Obesity Medicine.
