About
Dr. Paschall began his post-secondary education at Pomona College of Claremont, CA, where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelors of Arts in History and a minor in Biology. Dr. Paschall received both his Medical Degree and a Masters of Public Health from the University of Michigan. Before his career as a psychiatrist, Dr. Paschall trained at the University of California, Los Angeles in internal medicine and pediatrics, and he remains board certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics.
Prior to starting his psychiatry residency, Dr. Paschall worked as a primary care physician in a large managed care practice in Southern California, where he was named Family Physician of the Year for 2013.
While working as a primary care physician, Dr. Paschall came to recognize his true passion for treating mental health, so he returned to the University of California, Los Angeles for both Adult Psychiatry residency and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry specialty training. During his psychiatry residency, Dr. Paschall was selected by his peers and supervisors to be Residency Council President.
Dr. Paschall has experience treating children, adolescents and adults using current evidence-based practices, with approaches including psychopharmacology, supportive psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy CBT and psychodynamic psychotherapy.
In addition to clinical work, Dr. Paschall has interests in medical education, health systems economics and improvement, and integration of mental health care and medical care he was recently awarded a competitive American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry AACAP Pilot Research Award to adapt and test a mobile health application guiding ADHD treatment in a general pediatrics clinic. For that project, he is working closely with faculty and other researchers at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, where he retains close affiliations.
