Derek Blevins

I am a board-certified general and addiction psychiatrist. I am an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Columbia University, Research Psychiatrist at the New York State Psychiatric Institute, and Affiliate Staff at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. I treat a range of psychiatric conditions, including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, OCD, and ADHD, as well as addictions or problematic substance use, including alcohol, opioids, stimulants, cannabis, and nicotine. I strongly believe in a multimodal approach to mental health, including psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. My other areas of extensive experience include prescribing buprenorphine and injectable naltrexone for opioid use disorders, prescribing FDA-approved and off-label medications for alcohol use disorders, and working with college students, PLWHA, and the LGBTQ community.
