What is a doctor of Osteopathic Medicine?
Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine or DOs are one of two kinds of fully licensed physicians that can diagnose, prescribe medications, and perform surgery. They specialize in all areas of medicine including family medicine, obstetrics, orthopedic surgery etc.

Osteopathic physicians were traditionally trained to understand the ways that injury or illness in one part of the body can affect the whole person. Those who specialize in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine use simple touch to evaluate and localize the problem at its cause and then correct the malfunctioning part. This allows the body to naturally heal, relieves discomfort, and minimizes the reliance on medications or the need for surgery. The patient then has the ability to increase their activity and live their life again.
