With over 30 years of nursing experience, my interests involve mental health problems that result in diagnosing and treating:
depression
bipolar
schizophrenia
anxiety
attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
obsessive compulsive disorders
trauma issues
eating disorders
addiction issues
My nursing experience also gives me the ability to treat mental issues that co-occur with other medical conditions or end of life issues. Mental health issues impact chronic disease management in diseases such as diabetes, cancer, obesity, alcoholism, heart disease, etc. I also work to dispel mental illness myths and stigmas by encouraging early identification and treatment of mental illness. I have been a volunteer for NAMI South Dakota, teaching the Family to Family 12-week courses. This experience has allowed me to hear countless struggles that individuals and families face. My goal is to share in these experiences and work with individuals and families in developing a plan for recovery.
