My name is Allysa Cambra, and I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner proudly serving clients in the south shore area. Born and raised in New Bedford, Massachusetts, I come from a diverse cultural background, with Cape Verdean, Portuguese, and Native American roots. My passion for healthcare began early in lifeat the age of 16, I started as a personal care assistant, later becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant while still in high school. I went on to pursue my undergraduate degree in nursing and established the foundation of my registered nursing career in some of Bostons most elite healthcare facilities.
Over the past 10 years, I have gained extensive experience in acute care nursing, including working as a travel nurse during the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the entirety of my career, I encountered many patients whose undiagnosed or untreated mental health conditions significantly impacted their overall well-being and quality of life. This experience inspired me to advance my practice and specialize in psychiatric care, with a mission to address these critical needs.
I am committed to providing evidence based, culturally competent, and compassionate care to patients across the lifespan. My approach is centered on understanding each individuals unique experiences, challenges, and goals to help them achieve what wellness means in the context of their own lives. I strive to create a supportive environment where patients feel heard, respected, and empowered on their mental health journey without fear of judgment. I am deeply committed to reducing the stigma surrounding mental health by fostering open, honest conversations and promoting education within families and the community. By increasing understanding and acceptance, I aim to bridge the gap between mental health needs and available care, ensuring that no one feels isolated or overlooked.
Through advocacy, education, and patient-centered care, I hope to inspire a shift in the way mental health is perceivedencouraging not only healing for individuals but also creating stronger, more supportive families and communities. It is an honor to serve my community, and I look forward to partnering with my clients to help them achieve wellness and thrive in all aspects of their lives.
