Dr. Bhalavat is Board Certified in General Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. Dr Bhalavat did his Psychiatry Residency training from Louisiana State University Health Science Center, Shreveport. Dr. Bhalavat started practicing psychiatry since 2008.

Dr. Bhalavat provides outpatient care at American Psychiatric Care, L.L.C in Bel air and, Maryland Recovery Partners substance abuse program. His background includes the treatment of depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia spectrum disorders, bipolar disorder, substance abuse and dementia.

Dr. Bhalavat had extensive inpatient, outpatient, Emergency Psychiatry and consultation Liaison psychiatric services experience in Upper Chesapeake Health Harford Memorial Hospital, University of Maryland.

Dr. Bhalavat strongly believe in the combination approach of psychiatric medication and psychotherapy. Dr. Bhalavat uses a conservative approach with addictive psychiatric medication especially benzodiazepines and stimulants. He does random drug screening in office to most of his patient to avoid diversion, misuse or abuse of medication.
